Ike Videos...

This first video is the "Before Ike" footage. This was taken about 7-8 hours before the big stuff hit. The main part of the hurricane hit us during the middle of the night (at about 2 am) so we weren't able to get any video of it, but I tell ya what... it got pretty heart thumping at times. :)

This next video is the "Ike Aftermath". The plants you see on the ground are not bushes, they are small trees that got uprooted. :) And then there's obviously our big tree in the back that had part of it snapped off (we actually lost about half of both of our big trees in back). We've replanted the small ones, but we'll have to see if they make it. :) The water in the street at the end of the video is the end of our street that got a little flooded. It came up a couple inches onto the sidewalks, but didn't get into anyone's homes. (And I'm sorry about the bad video quality... I had to shrink the file size enough so I could put it on here).

All in all, we sustained very minimal damage. We also lost a few shingles off our roof, but we had no water damage like a lot of people in the area did and we are counting ourselves as extremely blessed. We're only about 45 minutes away from where there are only foundations left of homes and lives were lost. We know we have been watched out for. Here there was no damage that Jim can't fix (I love my handy man!). Thanks for all the prayers and well-wishes. We know we are loved.

My vote is that maybe you cut it a little too close! next time you should come out to Cali:) Holy cow though. I can't believe what a hurricane can do. That's so nuts. I'm so glad you are safe and all is well. You had my heart thumpin a little!

the area you live in looks gorgeous! i mean, not counting all the hurricane damage. what a scary thing to go through, but it looks like you came out with minimal damage. everything we see on tv is 45 minutes away?! wow, that's relatively close. i'm so glad you're safe.

you wanna know what's so weird? your neighborhood looks better than a lot of the neighborhoods here, and you got your power back earlier than a lot of my friends here! I had no idea that Ike could reach so far! WE'RE IN CLEVELAND PEOPLE!! HOW COULD THAT HAPPEN???
your neighborhood is so pretty-how nice to just play outside with friends and have pretty grass and lawns...sigh...:)
Glad you made it out alive-loved the videos! and thanks for all the advice-I'm going to try to stock up on a few of the things you mentioned.
love ya!
