Fun For Father's Day

This year, Father's Day was a whole lot of fun because Dixie is finally old enough to kind of get into it and help me out with it. :) Granted, I don't think she understood the concept of what it actually was all about, but we still had fun putting everything together.
The day started out with breakfast in bed (which had to be decently early since we have 9AM church! Ugh.). Dixie was so cute... we walked into the room singing "Happy Father's Day" to Jim, I had the tray of food, Dixie had the present, and she was just so wide eyed and excited about the whole thing.

Dixie wanted to share Daddy's breakfast with him.

And apparently she wanted to share it with everyone else too! :)

For Jim's present, I made him a tie (and when I say I made it, I mean that I actually bought the fabric and sewed it together! I was so proud of myself. :)) and then I had Dixie and Summer add their special touches with some fabric paint.

(Even with doing a test run, Dixie's handprint didn't hardly come out on our first try so we had to make a second attempt... hence it looks like more of an alien frog's handprint! Oh well. It's still super cute!) :)

And then to go with the tie, I decided to make Dixie and Summer a skirt to match. However, I ran out of time, so only Dixie got a skirt and Summer ended up with a super cute matching bow instead. :)

And walah! Here's how it all came out in the wash...
What a cute bunch!
(and yes, I'm aware that I made the tie way too short. Doh! But I'm cutting myself some slack since it was my first attempt at a tie.) :)

The rest of the day was spent just as Daddy wanted...

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
From your two little munchkins :)

And without wanting to get too mushy and sentimental on him (because I know he loves that soo much), I just wanted to tell my own dad Happy Father's Day (I know, it's way past the fact, and yes, I did call him too :)). But I have the greatest Dad on this earth. He is such an amazing example to me of strength in hard times, of faith and hope amid the storms, of humble charity and goodness, and I love him so much. Thanks, Dad, for all you are and all you have done to help me grow in the gospel and become who I am. I am so grateful to be your daughter!

Tears. Can I just say how much I love you. I LOVE your tie, skirt, bow combo. Trey and I made Lance a tie too and just like yours, even after a flawless practice the actual thing came out far less than perfect, but I just say it gives it more personality:) LOVE YOU!!!
