It's A Dead Man's Party...

Can you guess who we were for Halloween this year? :)

"We're Monsters Incorporated!"

Seeing as 'Monsters Inc' is about Dixie's favorite movie right now (that and 'Cars'), we thought it would be fun to dress up in a Monsters Inc theme for Halloween. Jim was Sully, Dixie was Boo (when she's disguised as a monster), Summer was Mike Wazowski, and I was Roz (the slug boss lady) (I had some cat-like glasses that Jim had made me that I wore to our ward's trunk or treat, but this picture was taken at our family's party when I didn't have time to throw everything on). Anyway, it was insane trying to get these costumes made in time for the ward party, but I was able to pull it off (close enough anyway) just in the nick of time! They were a lot of fun and I loved watching Dixie bounce around as Boo. She had a blast and was absolutely adorable. :)

Anyway, in addition to all that excitement, Jim and I decided to throw a Halloween Party this year. It was so much fun! (Despite being crazy stressful.) :) We invited all of Dixie's little friends and their families, including all our family in the area, and had a blast. Jim was in charge of the games for the kiddos outside and came up with some real fun things like digging for spiders in the brains (noodles), fishing for candy, a balloon popping game (with candy in the balloons), and pin-the-stem-on-the-pumpkin. I was in charge of the food and decorations inside and had a blast coming up with menu items like 'monster mouths' (apple slices with marshmallow teeth), pumpkin roll-ups (BLT tortilla roll-ups but on an orange tortilla), finger carrots and dip, and all sorts of halloween theme goodies. And of course decorating for it all was my favorite part. :) Unfortunately I neglected to take a picture of it all since I was (naturally) running late and in a panic to finish things in time. Of course, I did NOT finish things in time and my guests ended up helping me with all the finishing touches. :) But that's one of the nice things about throwing a party for FRIENDS vs. people you're trying to impress. Your friends like you even when you put them to work in the kitchen. :) (THANKS FOR NOT HATING ME, EVERYONE!) :) Well, the kids had a blast, we had a blast, it was a good time. And we even made party favors for the kids (which, of course, we forgot to hand out to them at the end of the party, so we spent the next day driving around and delivering them... doh!) (Is anyone else's brain as non-functioning as mine?!)

And yes, there were THAT MANY KIDS at our little house. :) The more the merrier, right? And they all got a little note from Dixie too...

Anyway, Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you had as much fun as we did!

Lots of Loves!

Jim is a pretty good sport, there's no way I could've gotten Adam to where that costume! Everything turned out so cute though. I've heard that parties like that can be overwhelming. Did you have patterns or did you just wing it?

Wow how do you have time to do all this? You definitely are super mom! You need to teach me some of your super moves. Yea Jeff got a job offer in Houston, but we're just waiting on a few other jobs before we decide for sure. Still up in the air! I could learn your tricks up close and personal!

I LOVE the sister craft week idea! Are you thinking of doing it during Christmas, or just through e-mails and phone some random week, or do we all get together? Whatever you're thinking I am 100% in. Sounds super fun!
