Spying

As I mentioned before, Dixie is now sleeping in a 'big girl bed', which means she has the ability to get in and out as she pleases. Well, she is now at the phase where she has decided to experiment on this ability. These past few nights Jim and I will put her to bed, and then a little while later we'll hear little sounds from around the house (like the toilet flushing, the fridge opening...).
Last night, as Jim and I were watching Glenn Beck after putting Dixie down, sure enough she got back up. I put her back down to bed and told her not to get up until morning. Well, a little while later we hear our little mouse in the kitchen. So Jim pauses the show and we sneak over to watch our little one at work. She was busy getting herself a drink of water. We watched as this cute little stinker in her cute little jammies poured water in her cup from our water cooler, drank a sip and then dumped the rest down the sink. As she carefully put her cup on the counter she then saw the ice cream container that had been left out (the homemade ice cream kind... it was left out because we were tossing out what little was left). She tried to quietly pull it down (she can barely see over the counter top so she's having to reach quite a bit for this) only to quickly realize that there were dishes in her way that would come crashing down if she kept pulling. We saw the little wheels turning in her head to figure out how she could get this tasty treat. She stopped her pulling attempts and instead just stood on tip toe and started to dip her cute little finger into the bowl and then just lick her finger.
Jim and I were DYING. We were silently laughing SO HARD it was killing us to try and keep quiet. I'm still amazed that Dixie didn't see us (we weren't THAT hidden and she was facing right toward us) and even more surprised that she didn't hear our gasps for breath in between the silent snickers. :)
She finally came around the counter and saw us in the family room and immediately tried to do a little recoil. But I just scooped her up and off to bed we went.
I'm glad we can laugh at these little things.
We love our sneaky little sneak.

That is to to funny. It's so cute to watch them grow and I just LOVE it when I can see the wheels in Trey's head turning. Growing up is hard work and it's so fun watching them do it. Aren't we the luckies people that we get to witness it:) I love you.

And we've only just begun :-) Can't wait to see the wheels turning when they come up with some crazy toilet paper sneakouts like we did :-)
