Giving Thanks

This Thanksgiving was so wonderful! We were the lucky ones who stole Mom and Dad Packard away to Texas. We had a great time with them and hopefully didn't bore them too much. :) Dixie sure enjoyed getting to know her Grandma and Grandpa again. (Thanks for making the trip out here Mom and Dad!!!)
Well, here's how the week went:
Wednesday we picked them up from the airport and went to lunch/dinner at a great restaurant where we had our first experience with fried pickles! They were surprisingly tasty!! :) Thursday was Thanksgiving and Jim treated us all to a FABULOUS tasting fried turkey! (Are y'all noticing the word "fried" showing up a lot?) :) But it was delicious! ...along with the rest of the meal. We also had the wonderful company of Shawna, Gavin, and their boys. It was tons of fun to have so much family around for the holiday. I relished every minute. :) Friday morning Jim, Dad, and our friend Steve went out hunting, but with no luck. And they got up so dang early they were crashed for the rest of the day. :) But they did manage to get some work done on our Christmas lights... which look fabulous! Saturday we had fun hanging out, doing some Christmas decorating, going shopping at an extravagant outdoors shop (Bass Pro Shops... a Texas special) and the guys went hunting again in the evening ...out in the rain no less! And this time Jim's brother (Randy) got himself a nice little buck. Dad was with him so he got to see all the action... including gutting him out and all. :) And then Sunday we had church and had to ship Mom and Dad off again. (Way sad!) But we're happy to know that it will only be a month (LESS actually!) before we get to see you ALL!!! WAHOO!!!
Well, that about sums up the holiday week for us. Now it's back to the grinding stone. Dixie had her 6 month appointment yesterday. She weighed in at 14 lbs and 13.5 oz (a little low for her age), and is 27.5 inches tall (a little tall for her age). So we have a tall and skinny 6 month old. :) But she sure is precious. Oh... and they gave her 6 vaccinations! :( Way sad. But she actually does pretty well with her shots. Only a few screams and tears and then she's okay.
Well, that's about it for us.
Love you all and see you soon!
