Flirting Gets Me Nowhere!

Does anyone notice a problem with this picture?

Ya... apparently so did the State Trooper who pulled me over today. But I didn't really flirt with him. (HENCE... I got a ticket). :) Here's how it all played out... I pulled out of my subdivision and noticed the trooper who was stopped at the perpendicular red light. My first thought... "Ooo... A cop... my inspection tag is past due. Shoot." My second thought... "Should I pull into this upcoming subdivision so he doesn't pass me?" (By this time the cops red light has turned green so he's on the move again, but going rather fast.) My third thought... "Nah... he looks like he's in a rush to get somewhere. There's not a chance he's going to glance at my windshield as he's zooming by and notice that my tag is out of date." ...The cop zooms by me. ... "Sweet. I was spared!" ...The cops brake lights go on. ... "Why is he braking?" ... Now I pass the cop. ... "Hmmm..." ... The cop pulls in behind me. ... "Uhhh..." ...The cops lights go on. "Poop."
*Sigh* So I pull over, roll down my window... the officer comes up... "Yes, sir?" And he actually introduces himself and then kindly informs me that he has pulled me over because my inspection tag is out of date. *Gasp!* It is?! :) I just looked at the tag and then him and said "Ya. It would be." He asked for my license and insurance card ...moment of panic as I think to myself: "Is my insurance card the new one?? That's all I need is for THAT to be out of date TOO!" Luckily, I checked the date and it was. *Whew!* Well... he goes back to his car, writes me up the ticket, comes back and explains yadda yadda about it, and has me sign away on the dotted line. But here's the kicker (you would all be SO impressed)... He hands me my copy of the ticket and just as he starts to walk away, I held out my hand to him. He paused and looked at it, then got a big smile on his face as he shook my hand, and I said, "Thank you, sir." And he walked back to his car, and I drove off with no hard feelings. :)
So, the moral of this story... if you ever get pulled over, try flirting because politeness gets you squat! :) JUST kidding!... the real moral is... when you ask your husband to get your vehicle inspection up to date for you, you should follow through and make sure he actually does it.
Wait... that wasn't it either. :) Oh, I know... the REAL moral is that if you treat others with kindness and respect, regardless of the circumstances, you will never have to go away with a bad feeling in your heart.
Hope you all have a GREAT and HAPPY day!

I knew it...it has to be TEXAS!!! THose lame cops!!! But you are funnier than crap...tough break on the ticket. But, defensive driving is not a bad deal...6 hours sucks but in addition to getting the ticket off your record...you also usually get a discount off of your insurance (10% for 2 years!)...
I don't know from experience =))))

I told Matt about this and he laughed. Apparently this happened to him while he was driving your car once?

That's a good moral of your story...I will have to show Chad..I am sure he wouldn't know how to react to someone wanting to shake his hand as opposed to the norm, I want to spit on you reaction.

I love that you still have Christmas tunes...my vote is to keep them for at least for another month:-) Yes, I am proud of you. You handled that situation quite nicely. Politeness and kindness always go a long ways...even if it doesn't take away the consequences of our mistakes. But, it is true...you do feel better. I love the pictures of our cute little Dixie. What a mouth full of teeth! And is she getting herself up into a sitting position from laying down??? I miss you guys!!! Got any video footage to put on My Rememberies? And...your posts are still more regular than mine:-)
Love ya tons...

Deb-
You never fail to crack me up! Good for you! I certainly could work on my reaction -it leans a lot more toward the "I want to spit on you" side :).
Love ya!

That totally sucks! I was in the car once when Brittany got pulled over for "rolling a stop". Once we went through the intersection we saw the cop and i said, "wow good thing you actually stopped because there's a cop right there". He pulled us over anyways! Clearly he has never been to CA and does not know what a stop really entails! But we were polite and he gave he ticket, after he handed it to her I went off, I didn't leave with a smile on my face. good for you.
