Jim and I spent yesterday evening canning some cucumbers his parents had brought us (which we added to the 2 or 3 that we had picked from our mini garden) :) to make dill pickles! I've never made pickles before... so hopefully these will taste good. I'll tell ya what I need is Grandpa Seely's pickled cucumber recipe. Anyone know how I can get that? (Mom?) But these should be good too. It was fairly painless (just time consuming) and I used a pickling package so it already had all the spices and herbs in it... I just had to add water and vinegar. :) We had a good (-ish) time and will be able to enjoy homemade pickles in about a month! Yea!! And Dixie even had fun helping too :) ...

You don't seize to amaze me! Good talking to you yesterday:)
I like Dixies contribution... that's how i like to help make cookies:)
Way to go, Debs...Grandpa would be so proud of you!! I know I am!:-) And here's Grandpa's pickle brine recipe since you asked:
1 quart vinegar
1 quart water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup salt rock (Dad claimed it made the pickles less soggy)
Bring to boil. Put in two sprigs of fresh dill and one sliced clove of garlic in each quart jar that is filled with med-sized cucumbers.
Makes 5 quarts.
You'll have to let me know how your spice-pack pickles turn out.
And thanks for your sharing your computer knowledge with me this morning. Love ya...tons!
Oh, and Denise...I think the word you wanted to use was "cease"...as in "you never cease to amaze me." To seize is to take by force...don't think that's what you meant to say:-) Love ya, too!
I tried to change my template to one of yours and for some reason it wouldn't let me... help I'm retarded! Also, a friend is going to be contacting you about making a wedding video slide show for them... just trying to keep you in business:) Love you guys!
Thanks for recipe Bonnie! Amazing what you find on other's blogs.
Your pickles look great. Strangly - I miss canning.
