Growing Up

Oh my heavens... time has just been flying by, and every time we reach a new milestone with Dixie it just reminds me all the more how quickly life is changing. I mention this because yesterday Dixie had her first "official" day in nursery at church. *sniffle!* My baby is getting so big!! Apparently there were a bit of tears on her part initially, but she got settled in and by the end, she didn't even notice when I came in to pick her up... she was having too much fun playing with balloons and the other kids. *sigh* I told Jim as we dropped her off and walked away, "It's the beginning of the end." I seem to recall saying that same thing when she started crawling. ...and walking. ...and running. :)

This picture is actually about a month old, but close enough. :)

And speaking of getting so big (no, I'm not talking about me! ...although that's true too!), Dixie had her 18 month doctor appointment last week. She weighed in at 21 lbs 12 oz (putting her in the 10th percentile... I swear we feed our child!) and measured in at 34" tall (which put her over the 100th percentile mark). Uh... can we say "tall and skinny"?? Those are definitely not the Packard genes taking over in that department. Well, at least she has my hair color and somewhat of my eye color so I can take SOME claim on this child. :)
Some of her other latest accomplishments... she's talking a ton. Really she says only one word at a time (unless she's speaking in her own language, in the which case she will spout off a whole story to you), but she's got quite a lot of words down (including knowing some of her shapes and numbers!). She's also practicing her jumping skills and trying to get both feet off the floor at the same time. :) She can climb up onto our dining chairs and table now (which is an accomplishment considering we have a rather tall table and chairs); she likes to get out the broom and help mommy sweep the floor; she can point to and name her head, eyes, nose, ears, cheeks, mouth, etc.;  and she will even sit on her little potty and make grunting noises when mommy or daddy has to go potty too. (Potty training is just around the corner... I can feel it!) :)
Like I said... she's just growing up so fast.
Well, we're loving the Christmas season with our little girl. Her eyes light up when we turn on the Christmas lights and she loves dancing to the Christmas music. We're all just loving the spirit of peace and joy that this time of year brings.
Loves to you all!

Who did she learn to "grunt" from when whe goes potty? haha:) I can't believe how big she is getting. Man time flies. I can't believe that she is over the 100th percentile for height. Where did these tall babies come from?! She is such a doll, I can't wait to see your next one:) xoxo

HAHA! She's almost as tall as Emma! and she weighs a couple pounds more than Bree. But ya, definitely not the Packard genes at work there-don't we all wish we had a few more inches on us (in height-haha) :) And you're so lucky she went right into nursery! The nice thing about these milestones with the first is that you don't have to be TOO sad that they're flying by since it's likely you'll see them with another child...if you have another child. guess I should add that :)

I can't believe you are down to 6 weeks left practically. I am sure you don't think time flies, but baby girl #2 will be here in no time at all:)

It already seems like ages since we saw you at Thanksgiving! I'm sad that we don't get to enjoy Christmas with you, but hey, January is just around the corner...I'm so excited!!
