Pain and Panic
I'm in a state of shock and panic and mortification and sheer emotional pain. If you've heard my latest family drama, you may think this is because of the recent haircut my daughter decided to give herself. But it's not (although, more on that to come... once I'm recovered from this NEW drama). No... I have lost my entire photo library on my computer. It's lost. Gone. Completely vanished. My babies births and birthdays, precious moments of crawling, first teeth, smiles, and random candid moments of our life... gone. Now, I'm no computer genius, but I am computer savvy and I have exhausted every conceivable route of finding these pictures. But they are simply not on my computer. I've called Apple only for them to tell me there's absolutely no way they could be gone unless I deleted them. OF COURSE I DIDN'T DELETE THEM! MORONS! (Although I have learned through some online research that through some keystroke commands you can delete files and empty your trash permanently, and I DO happen to have two keyboard pounding crazy little girls. Heaven help me ...and them!... if that is how this happened!) But what's that you say? Just restore my backup files? Ah, yes... this would be the part where if anyone has a loaded gun, I wouldn't mind borrowing it. I do not have any backup files of my pictures. *pull trigger now*. Yes, the tears are flowing and I'm rather distraught. I do have a few picture files in random locations on my computer, but nothing near my entire library. My two saving graces at this moment are 1) this blog, and 2) my mom. 1) This blog has most of the important/cute pictures from the past few years, so at least I've got those (albeit generally shrunken down in size). And 2) My mom has been at almost every important event in my life these past 3-4 years, and THANKFULLY takes many pictures. I'm going to be relying on her to be willing to make me more copies of those pictures to send to me. Mom?? Help?! Please??!!!!!! Other than these two sources and the random pictures on my computer, I think I'm just going to have to kiss the rest good-bye. I know there are recovery companies out there, but there's no guarantee of what I could get back, and I really don't want to spend that kind of money for just a chance. In the meantime, I would just like to tell you all one thing... BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT FILES!!!!!!!!

Oh, Deb. I am soooo sorry. That is my nightmare. I think I'm going to to go double back up our pictures now...
Hey hun, I have some photos from easter, the rodeo, pumpkin patch and other random videos and pictures of the girls too. I'll make copies for you when I get back in a few weeks!!! xoxo Ashley
Debbie I am so sorry to hear about your pictures. I can see why you would be so upset. There is a good computer place here in Friendswood that does a good job and they are very reasonable. Call me if you're interested..

Tears... What a nightmare. Once I thought I lost only one development of pictures and I balled. I have no words. Just know I love you:) I have the pictures from our visit?... suddenly I'm feeling very bad that we don't visit more often:(
You can still recover the files even if they have been deleted permanently. Technically they are still in memory, so if they haven't been over ridden in memory yet you can recover them. Call me or email me and I can help you. I downloaded a free program online and did it once and it worked. Good Luck!
I had that scare once too, and due to some praying and a miracle, the computer was magically fixed. I immediately backed-up all the pictures, and now my dad has most of our pictures on his computer too.
Deb, I'm so sorry. I agree with your friends though, that there is still a possibility to get them back. I noticed also that you have a kodak camera. When you upload does it also go to the kodak? Ours does and I usually have to transfer them all separately after. I also heard that people with kodak can have their pics deleted by kodak if you fail to purchase pictures from them. Since they upload them. Crazy but true. We had a notice from them once. If you don't have kodak, nevermind. :) Let me know if I can do something. Bring ya a treat? Get ya out? :)
That is horrible! I'm so sorry.
I don't think I have your e-mail by the way.
The fake blog we created to update everyone on when we post on the actual blog is http://crumpfam.blogspot.com/
So you can leave your e-mail there if you want.
Oh man Debbie...SO SORRY! I have a CD holder full of blank CD's waiting to be used to download all my pictures onto it. Right now they are all on an external hard drive. This makes me realize I need to do the copying sooner than later so they are in more than one place!
SO, SO SORRY, again!
So...is there an update? Did you get them back?? That really bites Deb...sorry! I'm guessing your guenius brother can probably help too!!
Seriously, this is why right before Christmas I bought a GINORMOUS external hard drive and downloaded everything on to it...just in case. I guess I have to keep updating but at least the majority is safe.
Good luck. Thank goodness for blogs and great moms=)
