Employed Again And Making Progress

Jim has been so busy lately with getting all of his teacher certification work done. He's going through an alternative certification program which includes a lot of online work, some classroom classes, volunteer time in the schools, and passing two tests (an oral and a written). Well, we are happy to say that he has completed all the work involved (online, classroom, and volunteer portions) and only needs to pass his two tests now. He took the written one back in the beginning of February and barely missed the passing grade by two points! Ugh! But considering not many pass it their first time, we weren't too discouraged and were even slightly encouraged since he was so close to passing. Anyway, he's scheduled to take that again in April. He has also taken the oral test already, but we don't find out if he passed that one until next week. However, Jim felt really confident about it (and why wouldn't he? He speaks Spanish fluently!) :) So anyway, hopefully next week will bring some good news.
And for some GREAT news, Jim's brother, Davy, has hired him on again doing essentially the same thing he was doing before (looking for land for the company to buy and develop). It's a temporary position (about 5 months) and works out perfectly (timing wise) since Jim is essentially done with all his certification work now and the upcoming school year doesn't start for about ...5 months. :) So, provided Jim gets hired on as a teacher somewhere, it would pretty much be a jump from one job to the next. This has taken a lot of stress off Jim's shoulders and we're both breathing a more relaxed sigh at this point. Not that we weren't doing just fine,  but I don't know anyone who likes to just sit and watch their savings deplete. So we are extremely grateful for this job and for Davy pushing to get Jim hired again. We sure love our family!
So anyway, I think that brings you up to date on the job front. Lotsa love to you all!

Hurray for jobs! I was just thinking I needed to e-mail you because we FINALLY got our business plan for Laser Mania finished, so I was going to see if you'd still like a copy. But it looks like something else has panned out. Somehow I missed that Jim was studying to be a teacher...that's awesome!

I loved getting caught up on your blog. CONGRATS on the potty training (we're just getting there ourselves with Bryce). Your kids are adorable! And I must say you have made some of the most beautiful cakes I've ever seen! I'm not just saying that because I'm you cousin--you are truly a cake genius!

Love ya!

Did you know that Aldine (I think that is how you spell it) is hiring teachers? The district is north of Houston, lots of Sec. 8 schools, but they pay well. I talked to one of their recruiters at a BYU job fair. Also another school district, Nacodoches was hiring.
