Austin 6.5

Austin is our 6 month (almost 7 months at this point) little man. He is changing so much and so quickly! Where to even start??

How about Physically?
At his 6 month doc appointment, he weighed 17.0 lbs. That's it. He feels more like 20 (at least!), but not according to the scales apparently. He was also 28 1/8 inches long. So this put him in the 30-something percentile for weight and 90-something percentile for height. Another tall and skinny kid (although he doesn't necessarily look it).
His hair has managed to hang onto the redness (which I'm honestly surprised about and not entirely sure I'm excited about, but he's so darn cute that I'm thinking he just might be one of those red-headed boys who can pull it off :)) and his eyes are still a gorgeous blue. He's such a handsome little guy.

Personality?
This boy's got it! He's happy go lucky and all smiles... except for when he's really hungry... or really tired... or can't see me in the room. Then he can wail like there's no tomorrow! :)
He's definitely become a bit clingy and I can tell the 'stranger danger' phase is creeping in because he no longer smiles at all the random people, but sits and studies them instead. He hasn't started crying at them yet (although a few people have gotten that reaction if they get too in his face), but it's probably right around the corner. :)
I love when he 'dances' when I hold him in the standing position. We call it his Happy Feet. He just gets those feet a-hoppin' and he bounces up and down and all over the place. Fred Astaire Jr.
He's also ticklish. Especially under his chin. And he has the. cutest. giggle. So stinkin adorable.

Milestones?
He's rolling all over the place; he's sitting up pretty good now, although it never lasts for more than about a minute before he'll tumble over trying to get something; and just this past week he started the army crawl! He will pull himself forward using just his arms to crawl to get something. And actually, as of yesterday he started getting up onto his knees into the official crawling position, but is still working on trying to figure out how to actually get anywhere from there. :) He just rocks back and forth, back and forth, over and over and then back down to the tummy. But it's just a matter of days before he gets that figured out. This makes him my earliest crawler so far. Both Dixie and Summer weren't crawling until 9 months.
He still doesn't have any teeth yet... just the cutest gummy smile... and he gnaws on EVERYTHING (but paper seems to be his favorite... if he can get his hands on it).
Eating solids is still a work in progress. Any of the cereals seem to constipate him pretty badly, so I've given up on those for now and have just been trying some fruits and veggies (usually one time per day). He's not huge on eating those, but he definitely tries to eat our big people food. Just waitin' for those chompers to come in. :)

Basically he's your average (albeit cuter than average) :) 6-7 month old child, but he's all ours. He melts our hearts with all his cute antics and we absolutely adore this little guy. We're so excited for what the future holds with him in our lives. :) LOVES!
